To say we had a busy week is a bit of an understatement.
Tuesday July 19th, the Rapid Speedway welcomed back the 410 Outlaw Sprint Cars, along with 305 Sprints and Late Model Street Stocks. This marks the first time the Outlaw Sprints have been to Rock Rapids in about 10 years. The stands were packed for the Fair Races, and there was a lot of speed witnessed throughout the night.
On the 20th, we made our way to the Clay County Fair Speedway for Night #1 of the Salute to Veterans Tour. 138 Cars over 5 Classes showed up to Spencer, IA for a great night of racing action. The opening Ceremonies were awesome with the Flyover, the American Bombshells singing the Anthem, and the honors bestowed during the ceremonies. 10 cars were selected for this years edition of the Salute to Veterans wraps, and they certainly looked amazing.
The 21st brought us to the Kossuth County Speewday for Night #2 of the Veterans Tour. 124 cars made the trek to Algona, IA for this night of the tour, and some strange luck was set upon the track and fans for the night. A truck backed into a pole before the ceremonies were set to go, this caused a transformer to blow and knock out power to the track. Power was restored pretty quickly thankfully, so we were able to get everything underway with reletively little delay. Once again the Opening Ceremonies were great, although the bright sky was throwing things off for our wireless cam in the infield, so we weren't able to use it as much. All in all the night was a good one with plenty of racing action across the 6 classes. A couple red flags for on-track incidents were had, but the drivers thankfully were OK after their incidents. We ended up back home at about 5am, ready for bed and to get racing going for the Friday Night portion of the week.
The 22nd saw our weekly shows return to action as the Vet Tour had a night off. The Rapid Speedway hosted their Fan Appreciation Night with the Tri-State Late Models and free grandstand admissions. The Crawford County Speedway had their Fair Races, and the Hancock County Speedway had their weekly program. We tried a couple things for the show at the Rapid Speedway, took some air out of the Side x Side and took it out to pace the field with the wireless cam. This seemed to smooth the ride out a bunch, and we look forward to getting that shot where we want it in terms of quality.
Saturday the 23rd, we wrapped up our weekend with the Boone Speedway and Night #3 of the Salute to Veterans Tour, and the "Haulin' the Mail event at the Eagle Raceway. Eagle ended up with rain striking during the B Features, forcing the cancellation of the program, now next week will be double features to makeup the rained out program and continue with the scheduled program. Boone Speedway saw more great opening ceremonies, a packed house, and 177 cars over 5 classes. The Boone Speedway never disappoints with the racing action either, as heats were full of action, and drivers were battling hard in each class. We were able to make it through the B Features, and through the Mod Lite Feature before the rain came on lap 2 of the SportMod Feature. While we tried to hold out the shower that came in, and while it looked good there for a while, eventually the wind shifted direction and the rain poured down harder yet. This forced the cancellation of the rest of the night, meaning the remaining features will also be made up next week.
All in all, it was an awesome week of action for us here at Advantage Racing TV. We enjoyed traveling with the Salute to Veterans Tour, working with IMCA.TV on that set of shows. As the season winds its way down in the fall season, it also means more specials are to be had. So we don't expect to be slowing down just yet. Some BIG shows are coming up in the next couple months.
The first ever sanctioned IMCA Stock Car event is happening THIS WEEK on the Emerald Coast.
The 2nd Annual Clash on the Coast brings IMCA Modifieds & IMCA Stock Cars to the Northwest Florida Speedway Feb. 26th & 27th, and to the Southern Raceway on Mar. 1st & 2nd.
Florida is great this time of year, but if you can't make the trip, www.IMCA.tv will have you covered.
We were able to hitch a ride with the driver of the 00x IMCA Northern SportMod, Colby Fett, as he battled with his fellow competitors at the Boone Speedway for the 41st Annual IMCA SuperNationals.
Night #1 of Qualifying is in the books and 9 drivers are locked in for the Big Dance on Sunday Night. The racing at the Eagle Raceway was full of excitement and action. You won't want to miss the rest of the weekend's festivities. If you can't make it out to the track with us, head on over to www.advantageracing.tv www.imca.tv or www.eagleraceway.tv for the LIVE coverage.
